Truth is an absolute in Christianity. Jesus said, “I Am the way, the truth, and the life; no one goes to the Father except by me.” The compilation of those three terms are synonymous with who Jesus Christ is and Jesus is the center of Christianity. Further, of the three terms, truth lies in the center. In other words, the life path we choose and the quality of that life find there root in truth. First and foremost a person is judged by truth. The Bible applies truth is human character with the word “integrity.” The best definition of integrity is, “being the same on the inside as you are on the outside.” This application allows for grace. We make mistakes for various reasons, but at the human core mistakes must be made out of the decision to share the truth as we knew it at the time. Too often our public officials are allowed to lie. We are conditioned to believe the lie was alright because it was the means to a greater end. In Christianity, truth is the end. Mistakes are forgiven, but when a nation condones liars and make them their leaders, that nation will eventually be discarded into the dumpster of historical failures.
